An Introduction to Bee Keeping 2023
Here at Cedarwood pollinators play a crucial part of the work we do. The plants we grow, the food we eat and the honey we harvest all rely upon pollination in one form or another.
Back in 2021 Lucy and Mike attended a beekeeping experience hosted by Andy and Flik of Beta Bee. Having the opportunity to witness the amazing sights, sounds and smells of a colony at work under their expert tutelage was inspiring, confirming for us that we needed honeybees on the Homestead. And now we’re delighted to be able to offer you the chance to experience this too!
Join us at the Cedarwood Homestead, where you’ll receive an informative talk about honeybees and what to expect to find in the hive, before donning a beesuit and having a hands on experience of your own.
Each session has a group size of up to 8 people and will last 2-3 hours, with the chance to explore the Homestead, enjoy some post beekeeping refreshments and ask questions. It’s the perfect treat for yourself or gift for someone special!
Multiple dates will be made available for the 2023 beekeeping season (usually April to August) but due to necessity for warm/dry weather, the start date will be released closer to the time. All experiences are subject to rescheduling if conditions on the day aren’t suitable. This experience is not recommended for anyone who has a bee sting allergy.
